North Central Bioeconomy Consortium Launched - April 20, 2007

North Central States will lead in advanced bioenergy and fuels resources and development. Newly formed regional consortium to lead policy and research for renewable energy and fuel development.

(Madison, WI) – Today Rod Nilsestuen, Wisconsin Secretary of Agriculture, Trade, and Consumer Protection, will announce the formation of the North Central Bio-economy Consortium (NCBEC), a 12-state collaborative effort of the directors of the Departments of Agriculture, Cooperative Extension Services and University Agricultural Experiment Station. Secretary Nilsestuen, the newly elected President of NCBEC, will make this announcement at an Earth Day event at the University of Wisconsin - Nelson Institute titled “Sustaining the Wisconsin Landscape. WAGE Awards Three Research Collaborative Grants 4-8-08

The UW-Madison Center for World Affairs and the Global Economy (WAGE) is pleased to announce the three winners of their research collaborative competition, each receiving a total of $100,000 over a three year period. Through these awards, WAGE seeks to catalyze cutting edge research on important challenges related to globalization and its governance. The three collaboratives cover the critical topics of import safety, energy and biofuels, and the changing role of law and the state in economic development. (more…)
